"Laugh and the world laughs with you."

Natalie Letow Russell - Biography

How does one remember the past forty-live yeas? With many, many fond memories!

After graduation I worked at Street Clinic in Medical Records for six years and then Clinic. Insurance for one.

I met Phil in 1959, when he was sent to the Lab for two years Army service. (My mother asked him when he had to join the reaI army) We were married in April. 1961.

Natalie and Phil 1998

Phil returned to work for the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. Our first assignment was to Augusta. Maine which was great as I had not met his family, who lived about forty miles away in his hometown of Bristol After a year there (1 worked for Central Maine Power, where their eyes would cloud over when they could not understand me because of my accent, which I did not think I had but they had one!). We were transferred to Alexandria, Virginia where Rachel was born October, 1962. From there we moved to Indianapolis Indiana where our son, Philip. was born July. 1964. After five years in Indy, Phil was transferred back to the D.C. office and we lived in Fairfax, Virginia for four years. In 1973 Phil was transferred to the region office in Homewood, Illinois for ten yeas This was great as the kids went from 4th and5th grade thru high-school in one area and both graduated from the University off Illinois after we were transferred back to D.C. This time we lived in he Springfield area for nine years until Phil retired at age fifty-five.

We now moved to our house in Bristol, Maine We had built the house twelve years before and would come as often as we could. Phil went to work for three years as a consultant for a trade association. We really enjoyed a lot of trips throughout the county We would run into Bobby Ryan at these meetings. While in Springfield, I returned to work for five years after twenty three years at home (of course, that was not work!) to complete my Social Security. This was quite an experience . I was in retail (ladies shop and Ross Dress for Less clerk) and could work rings around the teenagers. I worked part-time, as I had all those trips to take with Phil.

As of 1994, we are fully retired and enjoy our traveling in our camper and Jeep. Two years ago we made our third trip west for nearly three months We love the Maritimes in Canada and go for a few weeks every summer This will be our seventh year going to Florida for the winter. We leave after Christmas and return in April! This is in the camper and a very good test of togetherness.

We have three grandchildren Rachel, Eric and our grandson Teddy (14 mos. old) live in
Vienna, Va. and Philip, Abby, Miranda (4 years) and Sabrina (3 years) live in Syracuse, N.Y.
We try to see each other as much as possible. In August, when they are all here, I will try
to get a family picture to brag about.

Some of my best memories are of Vicksburg, Carr Central. and knowing all of you. In case anyone plans a trip our way our mailing address is P. 0. Box 187, Bristol. ME 04539. We love to show off Maine
