1999

After graduation from CCHS I went to Mississippi State University from '54 to '58 graduating in Industrial Management.

 

After graduation I married Becky Pierce CCHS '57 and remained married for several years but eventually divorced.

 

In October of fifty eight I entered the United States Navy and was accepted for flight training school. I was commissioned an Ensign in Feburary ,59 and graduated and designated an Naval Aviator in August'60.

 

I was assigned to Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) World Famous Blue Hawks stationed at Oceana, Virginia.

 

I made three cruises aboard the USS Independance to the Meditterean Sea.

Upon completion of my sea tour I was assigned to Attack Squadron 43 (VA43) as a flight instructor. The squaron gave advanced training to pilots going to sea squadrons.

 

Upon release from active duty two fellow aviators and I started a commuter airline in Lafayette, La, serving the oil industry. Unfortunately it was ahead of its time for the south and it went under.

 

I went to work for Teledyne Movible Offshore, an offshore drilling and construction company as sales manager for the construction division. I remained with Teledyne until they were baught out. At which time I retired.

 

I remained in the US Naval Reserve and retired at the grade of commander. I had a total of 3500 hours and 400 carrier landings. I have three children, two sons and one daughter, five grandchildrren; three grandsons and two granddaughters. .
